George V was born on 3rd June 1865 and acceded to the throne on 6th May 1910.

The Royal Fusiliers was the first Regiment to appoint him as Colonel-in-Chief, in 1900, while he was still Prince George. George continued to serve as Colonel-in-Chief; the ceremonial figurehead of the Regiment, after he became King in 1910.

The museum has George V's bearskin hat and dress uniform on display, including his dress trousers which were found in a cupboard in 2010!
