Job description: Digital Producer

Organisation: The Fusilier Museum London

Based at: Tower of London, London

Closing date: 17th June 2015

Salary:  £24,000 pro rata

Contract: Fixed term until

The Fusilier Museum London is a Regimental Museum which tells the story of one British Infantry Regiment from its beginning in 1685 to the present day.  The museum is based in the Regiment’s historic home, HM Tower of London, and receives 1,000,000 visitors a year.

A redevelopment of the museum’s permanent galleries in 2010 was the beginning of a transformational project called Fusilier Museum Advance!  Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), this project introduced education, community and volunteering programmes at the museum for the first time.  The museum has been successful in securing a second round of funding and is in the process of completing a 3 year project focusing upon its First Word War collection.

As part of this project the museum is in the process of redesigning its website in order to host an online catalogue to share its collection with a web based audience for the first time. The museum has also begun digitising its WWI collection in order to, ultimately, add this material to the online catalogue. The museum requires a Digital Producer with experience of website development and managing digital assets to work with the curator and web design team to oversee this project.

The digital officer will be responsible for the successful completion of the website and online catalogue as well as the digitisation of further collection material. They will be expected to manage relationships with a variety of external stakeholders.  They will ensure the project is evaluated according to an existing evaluation framework.

The successful candidate will already have a degree or equivalent relating to Heritage Services and an in-depth knowledge of working with digital material.

The contract ends on 31st May 2016.
