The National Archives (TNA) - If you are researching a Fusilier who served before 1920 you may be able to find their service record and/or medal card at TNA. TNA also holds copies of the Battalion War Diaries.

Find my Past -  Service documents for soldiers discharged to pension pre-1913 can be found at Find my Past.

Ancestry - Service papers and medal cards for the First World War (1914-1920) are available on Ancestry. Please be aware that many records were destroyed in the Blitz.

Army Personnel - If you are looking for a soldier discharged after 1920 papers will still be held by Army Personnel. The process for accessing these records is clearly detailed on their website. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission - Commemorates members of the armed forces who died in the two World Wars.

The London Gazette - Published gallantry awards throughout the wars and the archive can be searched online. (Be aware that in many cases citations were not published).

The National Army Museum - The National Army Museum offers a free enquiry answering service. They answer questions about their collections and operations or requests for advice on general topics relating to the British Army.

MOD Medal Office - The MOD Medal Office is the sole authority for the issue of medals authorised by Her Majesty to British service personnel and veterans. Applications can be made by veterans. The next of kin of veterans now deceased are also entitled to claim any medals that have not been awarded. AMOT (Army Museums Ogilby Trust) - Is a sector specialist network representing and supporting regimental and corps museums throughout Britain. Visit the website to find information about other regimental museums around the UK.

The Fusiliers - Is the website of the Regimental Headquarters of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

The Fusilier Museum - Is the museum website of the Lancashire Fusiliers and The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Based in Bury they tell the story of the 20th Regiment of Foot and the Lancashire Fusiliers from 1688 to 1968, when they became part of The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers as well as the story of the whole Regiment up to the present day.

Fusiliers Museum of Northumberland - Is the museum website of the Northumberland Fusiliers. Based at Alnwick Castle they tell the history of the Regiment from its origins in 1674 up to the present day.

The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum (Royal Warwickshire) - Is the museum website of the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers. Based at St. John's House in Warwick they tell the story of over 300 years of history of the County Regiment, from its raising in 1674 to the Fusiliers of today.

Imperial War Museum - Provide further advice and resources for tracing your family history. Appointments can be made to carry out more in-depth investigation in their Research Room.

The Long, Long Trail - A site all about the soldiers, units, regiments and battles of the British Army of the First World War, and how to research and understand them.

The Great War 1914-1918 - A family run website providing resources and advice for researching First World War relatives.

First World War Centenary - Imperial War Museums website set up for research into the First World War (allows you to add your own stories).

Europeana - Has a section of WWI material it has been collecting throughout Europe (allows you to add your own stories).

The Australian War Memorial - Holds service and operational records for Australian servicemen.

The UK National Inventory of War Memorials – A searchable database of all UK war memorials.

Discovering Anzacs – Details of all Anzac (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) enlistees.

Library and Archives Canada – Register of Canadian Expeditionary Force including digitized attestation papers.

Archives New Zealand – Holds various First World War records including personnel files, casualty lists and details of decorations and awards.

Find a Will - WWI soldiers wills (currently behind a pay wall).

The Genealogist - Holds the Times casualty lists.

Forces War Records - Holds surviving medical records.
